Message from the conference co-chairs:

With so much uncertainty surrounding the timeline of Australia’s emergence from COVID, a decision has been made to delay the ACMM27 conference.

At the AMMS AGM in May, we asked members for feedback on whether they wanted us to keep ACMM27 as a face-to-face event or look at turning it into an online conference. The overwhelming response was in favour of the face-to-face option. We believe that delaying the conference until we can all safely gather in Perth is the best way to achieve this, and the AMMS Executive has strongly supported this plan.

New dates for the conference will be decided soon by the AMMS Executive. We still intend to hold the meeting at the University Club on the UWA campus and are in discussions with the venue about rescheduling. The conference organising committee is considering options in September 2022 or February 2023, and would again be happy to receive feedback from members on their preferred option.

Thank you to all those who have sent us feedback and messages of support and encouragement. We will continue to work with the Special Interest Groups, vendors, and all AMMS members to create a successful event, and look forward to welcoming you all to Perth – eventually.

Conference Ambassador

Brian T. Bollard was born in Geelong in 2003 and is descended from the famous long line of Geelong Bollards. Interested in microscopy from a young age, Brian was only a few months old when he was appointed Conference Ambassador for the Australian Microscopy and Microanalysis Society and he has never looked back (he can’t, his head doesn’t move). Unable to settle down, Brian never manages to stay in one place for more than two years. While this wandering lifestyle would not suit everybody, Brian thrives on it and he hardly seems to have aged at all since his first conference in 2004. Brian lists Perth among his favourite places to be and has recently returned to the West after previous visits in 2008 and 2012. He looks forward to welcoming you all to Perth for ACMM27 in 2022.
